Partnerships for Community Resiliency
Partnerships for Community Resiliency (PCR) encourages grassroots participation in the design, development and measurement of successful programs to improve the educational and developmental outcomes of children in struggling communities, and to create positive sustainable change. Resiliency is the ability to "bounce back" in the face of adversity. In difficult times, it is critical that communities work together to achieve resiliency by sharing resources and data, developing common goals and learning from each other. One of the major impacts of PCR is to align residents, schools and a wide variety of organizations to build their individual and collective capacity in support of a "cradle-college-career" continuum by aligning strategies and resources through three significant environments: 1) home; 2) school; and 3) community.
Framework for Change: Three phases of partnership cultivation provide the framework that unifies and re-energizes communities to develop a plan to facilitate the creation and implementation of a cradle-college-career continuum: I) Get to Know Your Community; II) Connect Resources & Build Base; and III) Formalize Partnership & Sustainability Plans. The PCR agency partners in Duval County have already completed the first two of these phases and have begun work in phase three. By connecting counterpart organizations in Duval with other communities primed for change, the PCR project would allow Duval partners to continue the achievements and momentum established and deepen their collective capacity to impact critical issues by replicating and scaling their success as they help build the individual and collective capacity of agencies in other counties.
